To get to know me, you should probably actually meet me. But I suspect that, if I don't already know you, there's a good chance we'll never meet. Mostly as a reminder to myself, I'm going to point out that this page can not be a substitute for interacting with me in person. So I should not attempt to make it so.
My name is Mathew Corthell. Most people call me Matt, but I am just as happy to be called Mathew. I also go by the name Zorkon, although that tends to be more of an online moniker. Rarely does anyone actually refer to me as 'Zorkon' to my face. There is, of course, a story behind the name Zorkon, but I'm not going to tell it here.
I am a graduate of the College of Computer Science at Northeastern University. I used to work at CertCo, but they laid me off. I could make disparaging remarks about the company and the upper management, but I really don't want to be bitter. Green runts are bitter. While I try and motivate myself to find a new job, I am still living in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the USA.
Friends and family are important to me. I have a remarkable family, and I have a remarkable set of friends. I don't think about it every day, but I consider myself extremely fortunate that I have the people in my life that I do.
I love people. When I say this, I mean it both sardonically and sincerely. People are really fascinating. I also sincerely wish that all people could be happy. I don't do as much as I could to make other people happy, but everyone is responsible for their own happiness.
My interests include (but are far from limited to) computers, live theatre, reading, and music. That list of interests is fairly generic, but each of those is important to me. I could elaborate significantly on each, but I will not here.
I have always felt a desire to create things. For quite some time, I enjoyed drawing. My enjoyment of theatre includes participation in the creation of a show. Even as a software developer, much of my job is creation. I've also recently started to write. My present opinion is that writing is the shortest and easiest way for me to get images and ideas from my mind to somewhere that others can experience them. It is still woefully inefficient, however.
I keep few secrets about myself, and I don't mind answering people's questions about myself. So if you would like to know something more about me than this page reveals, then you should email me. Also, if you haven't already, you might want to take a look at some of the other material on my site. It was all created by me, so it all reflects me in some way or another.
