Other Places
These are some other web sites that I find interesting or worthy. Perhaps you will, too.
My Friends
Some of my friends also maintain a presence on the web.
- Craig Brooks- Has some silly and interesting stuff on his page. I can even claim authorship for a few excerpts!
- John Cataldo- with information about John.
- Elissa Goldberg- has one page all about a trip we took to Florida.
- Kate Korolenko- Beware! Kate has embedded wave files on her page. Shame on you, Kate!
- Daniel Rinehart- Dan has a page centered largely around his life. It's also got some good stuff about the original Quake console, and some other goodies.
Comics
I follow a number of comic strips on a daily basis. Some are available in newspapers, but several are exclusively published on the web.
- Dilbert- Mostly about the twisted world of the corporation.
- Doonesbury- A thirty-year old comic that continues to remain current and engaging. I particularly enjoy the continuing storyline and developing characters. Most of the entire 30-year run of Doonesbury is available in an archive at this site.
- General Protection Fault- About geeks at a software development company.
- Get Fuzzy- Bucky the Cat. And some other characters.
- Goats- Possibly the most bizarre comic strip I follow. It definitely passes the farthest beyond the bounds of good taste. I also really enjoy the art in this comic.
- Monty (formerly Robotman)- This comic appears to be fairly mundane one day, and then oddly bizarre the next. Usually funny, though, if not the most exciting artistically.
- PVP- This is an amusing strip if you happen to have had any contact with people who spend lots of time with computer or video games.
- Sluggy Freelance- About a web designer, a freelance inventer and layabout, a college co-ed, an alien, a ferret, and a homicidal rabbit. And those are just the regular characters.
- User Friendly- About geeks at an ISP.
Other Amusing Places
I love finding sources of amusement on the web. Here are a few sites that appeal to my sense of humor on a regular basis (if not exactly all the time).
- The Brunching Shuttlecocks- An assortment of humorous and bizarre short pieces.
- Dave Barry- A nationally syndicated columnist, Dave Barry writes weekly columns that comment on the finer points of life.
- The Modern Humorist- More funny stuff. The Modern Humorist contains mostly satirical humor covering a broad range of subjects.
- The Onion- The on-line version of a weekly satirical newspaper. The Onion is irreverent and tasteless.
- SatireWire- More satirical humor. SatireWire focuses on current trends in technology and the business world surrounding technology. It also contains the BushBlog, writtern from the point of view of President Bush.
