AFOM and MOOTWeb, Virtual Communities

As part of my daily life, I take part in virtual communities via the Internet. The two communities which I most frequently participate in are AFOM, an email mailing list, and MOOTWeb, a MOO. I share these two communities with my friends, many of whom participate in both communities with me. Both AFOM and MOOTWeb are small, with no more than 20 participants in either, and both are fairly intimate and informal. This web page is a look at some social aspects of these communities, and the similarities and differences that these communities have. I have broken the discussion up into several areas listed below:
