Evercrack

My friend Erin made a comment to me about some friends of her using 'evercrack', which is a reference to Everquest. The idea of a fantasy world and drugs stuck in my mind; although not in the way that Erin meant it. I had an image of The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein combined with the movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson.

Inspired, I wrote "Fear and Loathing in Middle Earth" (the first part, anyway) shortly after coming up with the idea. I set the narrative in Middle Earth (sort of), the world of The Hobbit, and used several of the main characters from the original story as my players. From "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" I took the idea of an adventure of sorts distorted by heavy use of various mind-altering substances.

I enjoyed the first part and received positive feedback on it from my friends, so I decided to continue the story. As a result, it has turned into a serial publication of sorts. Right now, the first three parts are finished, and I've started the fourth one. I'm mostly allowing the story to meander however it goes, but I'm also attempting to maintain continuity in the storyline and in the writing style, as I would like it to be a cohesive work when it's finished.
