Benchmarks
Last updated 15 October 2006.
At this time we have several sets of benchmark data online:
- The Kernighan and Van Wyk
micro-benchmarks were written to test the performance of a variety
of scripting languages, including Scheme.
They include several good tests of file i/o.
We have used them to illustrate the wide range in performance
among popular implementations of Scheme.
- The results described above were last updated in April 1996.
Our more recent results
include timings for the Kernighan and Van Wyk benchmarks
on an even wider variety of implementations of Scheme.
- Our older benchmark results
contain a few comparisons between Scheme, Common Lisp,
Standard ML, and C or C++.
