Resources on Modules

Here are links to some materials describing module systems similar to the one we are discussing in class.

• Essentials of Standard ML Modules, by Mads Tofte. The first half is a nice summary; the second half is a case study.
• A chapter on the ML module system by our own Riccardo Pucella. This is part of a larger set of notes.
• Some notes on the CAML module system by Scott Smith.
• The modules chapter of the OCAML manual, in HTML, with nice colors.
• Another short introduction to the OCAML module system, with less pretty colors. Go to the "Benefits of OCaml" link for more information on OCAML.
• The original research paper by Xavier Leroy on which my notes are based. More rules than you can shake a stick at.
• You could also look at the modules chapters of Bob Harper's book on programming, but this is pretty heavy going.
