Hello.
Thank you for your interest in our work. What you described also
sounds very interesting. I don't know the specific problem yet, so I
can't say now, but we will look at your papers to see.
The method we use is a general one, and so far it has succeeded on all
the several problems of matching regular expressions agaist general
labled directed graphs that we've looked at recently, as well as (at
least important parts of) all other problems we've looked at in the
past years:-).
We think the method can help design algorithms and implementations for
object query languages and XML, in which many people are really
interested. We've started looking at this.
