CSU520 - Student Project Presentations - April 6th, 2009
Professor Futrelle -
College of Computer & Information Science, Northeastern U., Boston, MA
Version of March 30, 2009
The Project Presentations
- The presentations will be on Monday, April 6th
- If we run over on Monday, the last few presentations can be done on Wednesday the 8th
- The order of presentations is listed below
- Each presentation is limited to six minutes (6 x 15 = 90 minutes, the class duration)
- You will come to the front of the class to talk - you can borrow my laser pointer
- You must sent Professor Futrelle the file you want displayed on the screen, PowerPoint or Keynote
- He must receive your file 24 hours before your talk (he'll check immediately to make sure they work on his MacBook)
- Start with a title slide that has your project title, your name, the course, and the date
- Your talk should include a total of five to seven slides
The upper limit of seven assumes that some are simple, e.g, a single screenshot
- Each slide should be reasonably simple - don't force the viewer to read hundeds of word
- Use figures - These could be photos, screenshots or data - Some portion of the slide will serve as the caption
- I will run the slides - just tell me when to put up the next slide
- Speak for five minutes, leaving one minute for questions (I'll give you a warning at 4 minutes)
- Stick to the time limits
- Practice your talk in advance to get your presentation smoothed out and time it
Sugggested outline for your talk:
- Your goals - What your project attempts to show, explain, investigate
- How you went about your project work - what you did
- What you finally accomplished
- What you learned from doing the project
You must use technical AI terminology in your slides and talk - all the students will be familiar with it.
