Oracle DBA/System Administrator

Responsible for all aspects of Oracle database administration. System Administrator of HPUX database servers. Database environment includes 30 database servers running on HPUX and 10 Solaris 9 servers distributed around the globe. Databases environment consists of 8i and 10g databases. Worked with engineering group on all aspects of software development and performance tuning.

Implemented backup data warehouse site using Oracle Replication

Upgraded databases from Oracle 8i to 10g

Standardized database and database server environments

Upgraded database hardware from HP9000 N4000 servers with HP FC60 disk arrays to Sun V490 servers with EMC Clariion CX3-20/CX300/CX500 disk arrays.

Deployed and managed NS502G, NS702G and integrated NS502 EMC NAS systems.

Provided 99.999% database uptime by utilizing HP ServiceGuard OPS clusters.

Worked with engineers on database design and performance tuning issues.

Utilized HP9000 RP7620, RP7400, N4000, L3000 and K420 Unix servers, EMC Symmetrix 8230, Clariion 4500 and Centriplex CX1000 RAID Arrays, large variety of Intel based servers.

Project:  Conducted system load study of WEB environment. Developed and implemented an upgrade strategy from the pair of database servers running Oracle Replication to a 3-node HPUX cluster running Oracle 9i RAC.

Project:  Worked with WEB and Euclid development groups on optimization of application and databases design, code tuning.

Project:  Implemented high availability configuration for the Euclid database utilizing HP MC/ServiceGuard OPS addition. Prepared system for an easy future upgrade to Oracle Parallel Server.

Project:  “Archiving” project.

Assisted in data warehouse and Aspect datamart implementation.

Project:  Web databases conversion from SQL Server 7 to Oracle 8

Responsible for migrating and redesigning TLCS WEB databases to support online availability query and reservation. Configured new WEB databases to run on a pair of HP9000 N4000 servers synchronizing each other using Synchronous Oracle Advanced Replication. Configured load balancing for the database connections coming from the WEB Servers.

Project:  Developed internal documentation and database/server performance monitoring Web site.

Project:  Implemented PVCS VM software.

Oracle 7 DBA (for Windows NT 3.51/4.0) Responsible for systems and database installation, configuration, version upgrades, backup, recovery, performance tuning, user administration, database and application development using PL/SQL, PowerBuilder, Visual BASIC, and Borland C++.

Project:  Implementing MP2 system.

Responsible for the installation, configuration, day-to-day maintenance of production systems and Oracle 7 databases. Designed and developed additional data-collection modules and interfaces to other production systems. Provided technical support for clients.

Project:  Windows NT Domain administration. Responsible for server installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and user administration; Windows 3.x/95/NT security.

Project:  Microline quality control system.

Retired AT/VAX quality control system and replaced it with an SPC Client/Server system. Was responsible for the software selection, configuration, writing interfaces for exporting data out of the old system and importing it into the Sybase 11 database. Provided database support.
